WNAM REPORT: As part his working trip to the UAE, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in an expert meeting for discussing the artificial intelligence development issues.

Addressing the participants, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that AI is one of the key driving forces for modern progress capable of drastically changing economy.

The President said that Kazakhstan takes significant steps to create a strong foundation for the AI promotion, with a focus on formation of institutional frameworks, infrastructure and human capital development.

“We are creating an international advisory council for artificial intelligence, which will work under my supervision. This council will serve as a strategic platform for dialogue and exchange of opinions with the world-class experts, which will unite engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs, in order to develop recommendations on the national AI policy and strengthening international cooperation,” said the President.

He highlighted that training of highly-qualified professionals is a key priority for Kazakhstan in the field of AI. In his words, successful implementation of AI directly depends on qualification and experience of those who develops and applies these technologies. The Head of State also said that Kazakhstan set up AlemAi Center for Advanced Technologies which will unite the best world practices and will promote the implementation of innovative solutions.

He pointed out that the center would become a hub for the implementation of initiatives, including educational programs for schools, universities and professional training centers, research centers, startup offices and companies, as well as a platform for the exchange of experience and advanced practices.

“In education sector, we have introduced AI-Sana innovative program called to develop human capital in AI. The program aims at cross-disciplinary training of specialists from various sectors and contributes to the development of advanced solutions in AI,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.

At the end, the President emphasized that Kazakhstan aspires to become an active participant of the global AI ecosystem and called the event attendees for cooperation in various spheres: from scientific researches to the creation of ethical standards.

Previously, the Head of State met Chief Executive Officer of Masdar Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer, Downstream, at ADNOC Khaled Salmeen, and  Abu Dhabi Ports Group CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi.
