WNAM REPORT: Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), met with Mr. Najy Benhassine, Country Director of the World Bank, at the BISP Headquarters in Islamabad. During the meeting, they discussed potential collaboration between BISP and the World Bank on the Skill Development Project and the re-certification of BISP Registration Centres.
Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that the primary goal of the Skill Development Programme is to uplift BISP beneficiary families by eradicating poverty and fostering financial independence. The meeting also entailed a comprehensive review of BISP’S performance vis-a-vis various Disbursement-Linked Indicators with a particular emphasis on augmenting the technical prowess of BISP field officials through specialized training initiatives.
It was agreed that BISP and the World Bank would form teams to develop proposals for enhancing the technical skills of BISP field staff.
Furthermore, Senator Rubina Khalid sought the World Bank’s assistance in digital and cybersecurity. Both parties decided to establish dedicated teams to propose measures for strengthening BISP’s IT and Cybersecurity Wing. Mr. Najy Benhassine assured the World Bank’s full support in this regard.
