More often than not, the fire brigade vehicles of local government reach the places gutted by fire quite late when damage had already been done. It has been observed that quite often the local government institutions like municipal committees whose responsibility it is to put out the fire had to bank on the support of fire brigades of armed forces and cantonment boards for putting out the fire as their own fire brigades are ill equipped to extinguish fire.
It is about time the local government put the fire brigade system on an even keel by equipping the municipal committees and corporations in all the cities with modern fire brigades which should be manned round the clock by fully trained fire fighters
