ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): : A delegation from the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by Secretary General Zulfiqar Butt, comprising Women Chamber Chairperson Hina Mansab and Malik Sohail, Chairman Coordination FPCCI called on Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday to discuss regional trade cooperation, particularly with Bangladesh.
Rana Ihsaan Afzaal Coordinator to PM on Commerce and Senior Officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.
The delegation informed the minister that a high-profile trade delegation is scheduled to visit Bangladesh after Eid in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). They shared that a recent visit to Bangladesh was met with immense respect and hospitality, which they described as “overwhelming and heartwarming.” The delegation also held a meeting with the Bangladeshi Commerce Minister, who expressed strong encouragement for deepening trade ties.
Hina Mansab, Chairperson of the Women Chamber, highlighted the cultural similarities between Pakistan and Bangladesh, noting that it offers a welcoming environment for women entrepreneurs and presents excellent business opportunities.
The delegation further apprised the minister of an upcoming trade fair scheduled from May 19 to 21, which will feature participation from 44 companies, aiming to showcase trade potential and foster business linkages.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan appreciated the efforts and emphasized Bangladesh’s potential as a major trade partner, noting its large market of over 180 million people and vast untapped opportunities. He assured government support and facilitation for the delegation’s initiatives.
During the meeting, the minister also inquired about the long-pending SAARC Chamber of Commerce building project. The delegation informed him that the nine-floor structure is now nearing completion, thanks to recent ministerial intervention, after having remained in the grey structure phase for nearly a decade.
