WNAM REPORT: Turkmenistan will put forward an initiative to adopt a resolution on the “Role of the Neutrality Policy in Strengthening International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development in the Countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Around the World” at the upcoming meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. The decision was approved by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented the head of state with a number of proposals for developing cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Among them is the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the 51st meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, which will be held on June 20-21 in Istanbul, and the promotion of the Turkmen resolution on the role of neutrality at this forum.
In addition, the Turkmen side proposed holding a conference on the topic of peace within the framework of the next OIC meeting, in connection with the declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also proposed to study the possibility of holding thematic meetings of the organization at the ministerial level on transport, energy, education, agriculture and environmental protection in the country in the coming years.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the development of relations with international organizations is one of the key aspects of the foreign policy activities of neutral Turkmenistan, and approved all the proposals presented.
