Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING ):  The annual Leaders’ Retreat between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong resulted in 19 strategic agreements across various sectors, ranging from military defense to health.

“In my opinion, this Leaders’ Retreat was very productive and successful. We held a very productive meeting, one-on-one, and we produced 19 results in many sectors of cooperation in this year’s retreat,” Prabowo stated in a joint press statement with Wong at the Parliament House, Singapore, Monday (June 16).

In the political and security sectors, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the defense cooperation agreement and to accelerating the technical finalization of the joint military training area.

Progress was also achieved on the extradition agreement mechanism, including the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between the attorneys general of both nations.

In the economic sector, President Prabowo emphasized that Singapore remains one of Indonesia’s main investors.

“Thank you for the trust you have placed in us, and we want to continue to strengthen this collaboration and partnership,” he affirmed.

He also highlighted six bilateral economic working groups, including those focused on the development of special economic zones, agriculture, tourism, labor, and transportation.

The president also underscored the importance of collaboration between Singapore’s state-owned multinational investment firm, Temasek, and Indonesia’s investment management agency, Danantara, particularly in renewable energy and the development of CCS in Batam, Bintan, and Karimun SEZ in Riau Islands.

Regarding food security, Prabowo welcomed Singapore’s offer to transfer modern agricultural technology, including urban farming and sustainable post-harvest practices.

“We welcome the signing of the memorandum of understanding as a basis for strategic cooperation in food security and agricultural technology,” he remarked.

In the health sector, he invited Singapore’s active participation to support the transformation of Indonesia’s health system, including the establishment of new medical and nursing faculties.

Meanwhile, Prabowo and Wong also discussed cooperation on the placement of skilled Indonesian workers, especially in elderly care and caregiving.

In terms of connectivity, Indonesia is committed to increasing direct flights with Singapore and improving airport infrastructure.

Closing his statement, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Singapore, which has been maintained for over five decades.

“I am very confident that this bilateral relationship will continue to grow stronger, with increasing trust and confidence in each other as time goes by,” he concluded.
