Jabrayil ( WNAM MONITORING): As part of their visit to Azerbaijan’s Karabakh and East Zangezur regions, members of the Most Traveled People (MTP) international travelers club, representing 15 countries, observed demining work by ANAMA in the village of Mehdili in the Jabrayil district.
The travelers, moving along the Fuzuli–Khojavand–Shusha–Khankendi–Khojaly–Aghdam–Kalbajar–Lachin–Zangilan–Jabrayil route, toured the city center of Jabrayil, watched the process of clearing mined areas, and witnessed a controlled detonation of recovered mines in the area.
The travelers were informed about the heavy mine contamination during the occupation and the casualties caused by mines. It was noted that most anti-personnel mines found are of Armenian origin, while anti-tank mines are mostly of Russian origin.
The travelers’ attention was drawn to the fact that the Jabrayil district is considered one of the most polluted areas with mines and unexploded military ordnance.
Gadir Namazaliyev, head of ANAMA’s 3rd clearance team, stated that operations in the 83,111-square-meter Mehdili/006/05 minefield have been ongoing for 171 days, with 85.21% cleared and 1,077 explosive devices discovered.
Afterward, the team conducted a controlled detonation of the recovered mines.

They will be informed about the severe mine contamination during the occupation and the casualties caused by landmines. The travelers will also watch the process of clearing mined areas and a controlled detonation of recovered mines in the area.
