WNAM REPORT: At a meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan on July 25, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the work being done to further develop multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
In this regard, it was reported that a number of proposals have been prepared in order to further implement the humanitarian initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, promoted in the UN system.
In particular, a proposal was submitted for the head of state’s consideration regarding the participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, scheduled for the fall of this year in Samarkand.
Along with this, it is proposed to organize an international forum in a hybrid format in Turkmenistan in August of this year within the framework of the above-mentioned Roadmap. It is planned to be held in 5 areas: digital education and artificial intelligence (AI); the role of AI in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; international experience in introducing artificial intelligence into the national education and science system; improving the educational sphere through digitalization and AI technologies; the importance of AI tools in improving the qualifications of national specialists.
Based on this, responsibility for holding this event is expected to be assigned to the Ministry of Education.
A proposal was also made regarding the financing of a number of projects through the Trust Fund established with the assistance of the head of state on the basis of the Framework Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNESCO. These include: “Our Heritage”, “Youth, Peace and Security”, “Creation of a Geopark in Turkmenistan”, as well as a project aimed at strengthening measures to preserve the Amul Fortress, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, etc.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the UN and its specialized structures. Having approved the proposals, the head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to carry out the relevant work in this direction.
