WNAM MONITORING: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday held a phone call with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, initiated by Yerevan, to discuss recent Armenia-US-Azerbaijan contacts as well as the ongoing peace process, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Mirzoyan briefed Lavrov on details of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent talks with US President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Lavrov underlined the importance of achieving sustainable peace between Baku and Yerevan in line with the trilateral agreements reached in 2020–2022, with Russia playing a central role, and reiterated Moscow’s readiness to continue facilitating normalization between the two neighbors.
The two ministers also discussed several current issues on the Russian-Armenian agenda, the ministry added.
Azerbaijan and Armenia on Monday shared the text of the peace agreement they initialed Friday during a trilateral summit at the White House with the participation of Trump, Pashinyan, and Aliyev.
The 17-point deal includes mutual recognition of borders, no territorial claims, refraining from force, establishing diplomatic ties, border delimitation, and the withdrawal of mutual legal claims.
The agreement will enter into force after both sides complete internal procedures and exchange ratification instruments.
Earlier on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin also reaffirmed his country’s readiness to assist in normalizing Azerbaijan-Armenia relations under the same trilateral deals.
In a phone call with Pashinyan, he stressed the importance of steps toward sustainable peace and discussed unblocking transport routes in the South Caucasus.
Pashinyan informed Putin about the outcome of the Washington summit, while the Russian leader briefed him on his meeting with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and preparations for his upcoming talks with Trump in Alaska.
