WNAM MONITORING: On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 – August 28, 2025), General Secretary To Lam sent a congratulatory letter.

Gia Lai Newspaper, Radio and Television respectfully introduces the content of the Congratulatory Letter:

Dear comrades,

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic Sector (August 28, 1945 – August 28, 2025), on behalf of the Party and State leaders, I would like to cordially send to all generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers in the diplomatic sector and collectives and individuals participating in foreign affairs my sincere greetings and best wishes.

The great honor and pride of the diplomatic sector is to be directly instructed, trained and led by President Ho Chi Minh as the first Minister of Foreign Affairs after the country gained independence. After 80 years of development and growth, the diplomatic sector has overcome countless difficulties, achieved great and historic achievements, and made important contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Right from the early days of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and throughout the 30 years of resistance against invasion, gaining national independence and unifying the country, under the wise and talented leadership of our Party and the guiding light of Ho Chi Minh’s diplomatic ideology, foreign affairs and diplomacy were one of the key forces, pioneering in successfully protecting the young revolutionary government, laying the foundation for the sustainable development of the Vietnamese revolution.

The foreign-diplomatic front always stands side by side with the political and military fronts, forming a vanguard force, opening up a battle-and-negotiation posture, making the most of great international sympathy, support and assistance, closely combining national strength and the strength of the times, making an important contribution to gradually achieving victory towards complete victory, reuniting the country, completely liberating the South, and unifying the country.

After the country was reunified, foreign affairs and diplomacy continued to take the lead, gradually breaking the siege and embargo, promoting international integration, opening up a favorable foreign situation, and making an important contribution to the successful implementation of the Party’s Renovation policy.

With the spirit of serving the Fatherland, foreign affairs and diplomacy have made a worthy contribution to the creation and maintenance of a peaceful and stable environment, resolutely and persistently protecting independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, building the foundation, potential, and enhancing the country’s international position and prestige as it is today. Many outstanding Vietnamese diplomats have taken on important positions in international organizations, and have been recognized and highly appreciated.

On this occasion, I highly appreciate and warmly commend and congratulate the important achievements and results that generations of cadres working in foreign affairs have achieved. The Party and State acknowledge the great contributions and silent sacrifices of generations of cadres who have always been loyal to the revolutionary cause and foreign affairs of the country.

The world is undergoing great changes, epochal turning points. Our country Vietnam is facing a new era of national development.

Inheriting the achievements of 80 years of heroic history of the Vietnamese revolution, continuing to carry out the testament of the great President Ho Chi Minh on building a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, contributing worthily to the world revolutionary cause; so that our country Vietnam can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as his wish and also the wish of our entire Party and people, the task of the diplomatic sector and those working in foreign affairs is extremely heavy, but also extremely glorious.

In addition to political and foreign affairs tasks, the diplomatic sector and those working in foreign affairs must also successfully carry out the core task of serving the country’s sustainable development in the new era.

I believe that with the proud tradition of the past 80 years, the Diplomatic sector will continue to promote its pioneering role in proactively seizing opportunities, turning challenges into opportunities, and effectively contributing to the successful implementation of the strategic goals set forth in the Party Congress Resolution.

Foreign affairs and diplomacy must rise to new heights, truly becoming one of the key, strategic forces in protecting the country early and from afar, maintaining a peaceful, stable, independent, sovereign, and territorial integrity environment, constantly enhancing the country’s prestige and position, and effectively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

In the present era, the development of the country is always closely linked and inseparable from the general development flow of all mankind. The effective diplomatic method has been proven through history to be the close combination of national strength with the strength of the times; closely and synchronously coordinating on all three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and People’s diplomacy under the leadership of the Party.

I believe that cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers working in foreign affairs and diplomacy will always promote the qualities of “both red and professional,” steadfast in revolutionary goals and ideals; strong in politics and ideology, clean and comprehensive in moral qualities and professional capacity; modern in thinking and with a professional style, continue to excellently fulfill all tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of national development goals in the new era.

I sincerely wish the diplomatic sector and those working in foreign affairs to always excellently fulfill the tasks entrusted to them by the Party, State and People.

Wishing you, your family and friends good health, happiness and success!

TO LAM
General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee

Communist Party of Vietnam
