WNAM MONITORING: Representatives of the Central Veterinary Laboratory under the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan met on September 2 in Ashgabat with Viktoras Zabolotnos, a consultant from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
The meeting focused on a national assessment of regulatory and procedural trade barriers, conducted at the official request of the Government of Turkmenistan within the framework of cooperation with UNECE.
The study aims to support Turkmenistan’s strategic priorities, including sustainable socio-economic development, digitalization, environmental safety, and deeper integration into international trade processes.
Particular attention is being given to simplifying trade procedures, enhancing national quality infrastructure, such as standardization, technical regulation, metrology, and accreditation, as well as developing the country’s transport and logistics systems.
The assessment’s findings, including practical recommendations, are expected to be presented in the fourth quarter of 2025 during a stakeholder meeting. The results are intended to improve the business climate, stimulate foreign economic activity, attract investment, and support the diversification of Turkmenistan’s economy.
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe is one of five regional commissions of the UN. It was established in 1947 by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to promote economic development and strengthen cooperation within the UNECE region and between the region and the rest of the world.
