ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Due to a fault in an undersea internet cable, users in Pakistan are facing difficulties in browsing the internet.

According to a PTCL spokesperson, the bandwidth of the SEA-ME-WE 4 (SMW4) and IMEWE submarine cable systems has been partially affected, resulting in reduced internet speed and quality across the country.

The spokesperson added that efforts are underway to shift traffic to alternative international routes in order to minimize disruption for users. Full restoration is expected once the cable is repaired.

Submarine cable cuts have occurred in Saudi waters near Jeddah, impacting Partial bandwidth capacity on SMW4 and IMEWE systems. As a result, internet users in Pakistan may experience some service degradation during peak hours. Our international partners are working on priority to resolve the issue, while our local teams are actively arranging alternative bandwidth to minimize the impact. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, Spokesperson PTCL Group said.
