ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): The Advisor of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain paid an official visit to the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad.
During his address, Dr. Khalid Hossain expressed deep appreciation for the role of COMSTECH, the Ministerial Standing Committee of the OIC, in advancing science, technology, artificial intelligence, environment, climate change, and poverty reduction across the Muslim world.
He especially acknowledged the allocation of 100 scholarships for Bangladeshi students at the University of Lahore, thanking COMSTECH for this valuable initiative, which will enable bright students of Bangladesh to pursue higher education in Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of extending such opportunities to students from Madrassa backgrounds, particularly those with strong foundations in Quran and Hadith studies, so that they may also benefit and contribute to diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, and technology.
Highlighting the importance of unity, Dr. Hossain stressed that “we must unite under the banner of Islam, under the guidance of the Quran and Hadith, for the greater interest of the Muslim Ummah. Without unity in diversity, we can not progress.”
The Advisor also took a keen interest in COMSTECH’s support for the establishment of a Halal Institute in Uganda. He informed that Bangladesh’s Islamic Foundation and relevant authorities are already working on Halal certification and exploring collaboration with Pakistan’s Halal Authority. He suggested exploring COMSTECH’s technical support in the capacity building of the relevant staff.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Pakistan H.E Md.Iqbal Hussain Khan extended heartfelt thanks to the Coordinator General and officials of COMSTECH for their warm hospitality and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to work closely with COMSTECH for achieving mutual benefits and strengthening cooperation among OIC member states.
