BLS & Basic Trauma Management Course for Palestinians launched at COMSTECH

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): The launching ceremony of the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Basic Trauma Management Course for Palestinian Nationals, a joint initiative of COMSTECH, Fatima Memorial Hospital, and NUR International University, Pakistan, was held at the Al-Khwarizmi Conference Room, OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad.

In his remarks Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General, OIC-COMSTECH, emphasized that capacity development through education and training is one of the most powerful means of empowering communities facing adversity. He termed the initiative both a gesture of solidarity and a long-term investment in human capital and health resilience in Palestine.

Prof. Choudhary extended his appreciation to Fatima Memorial Hospital and NUR International University for their outstanding collaboration and academic contribution and thanked the OIC and the Representative Office to the State of Palestine for their continued support.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, NUR International University, Lahore, commended COMSTECH’s initiative and reiterated the university’s commitment to providing academic and technical support for humanitarian training programs.  Tawfiq Khader, Counsellor, Embassy of Palestine to Pakistan, appreciated the continued support of OIC-COMSTECH and its partner institutions for the Palestinian cause.

Prof. Dr. Omar Melad, Vice Chancellor, Al-Azhar University, Gaza, and Mr. Ahmad Ali Hanoun, Director General, Representative Office of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the State of Palestine, joined the event online and expressed their gratitude to COMSTECH and its partners for launching a course of great importance and relevance to the Palestinian context.

The program reflects COMSTECH’s unwavering commitment to promoting science, technology, and innovation for the collective progress of OIC member states, with a special focus on supporting the people of Palestine.

During the ceremony, it was highlighted that the idea for this course was conceived in response to the urgent need to strengthen emergency healthcare capacities among Palestinian medical professionals and youth. The recent humanitarian crises in Gaza have underscored the vital importance of timely medical response, life support, and trauma management.

The one-month online course offers structured modules in Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Trauma and Wound Management, Spinal and Limb Immobilization, Psychological Support, and Physical Rehabilitation. It is designed specifically for Palestinian nationals, enabling participants to enhance their professional skills and confidence while remaining in their homeland.
