WNAM REPORT: As is known, in recent days the leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan launched the joint cross-border trade zone “Shavat – Dashoguz” in Shavat district of Khorezm region.

Inside the covered pavilion, visitors can access 112 open trading stalls and 28 shops. Additionally, 16 more shops, grouped into two blocks, further expand the commercial opportunities of this complex.

According to Ilhombek Qurbonov, Chief Inspector of Khorezm Regional Customs Administration, the new customs post will make the movement of people and goods across the border more convenient, efficient, and transparent. It is equipped with modern technical tools and information and communication systems. Consolidating all processes into a single center enables streamlining control, reducing waiting times, and supporting entrepreneurial activity. This is especially important for customs officers, who consider their main task to be the reliable protection of the country’s economic interests, the expansion of legitimate trade flows, and the provision of quality service to citizens.

As part of the event, entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives of the wider public visited the commercial complex built on the territory of the Turkmenistan border post and became familiar with its facilities.

The brotherly Turkmen people welcomed the guests with sincere smiles and traditional hospitality. Festive celebrations, theatrical performances, vibrant shows by folklore ensembles, and exhibitions reflecting national customs and traditions were organized on the spacious square.

The ceremonial events in the cross-border trade zone in Shavat were also held at a high level. Our compatriots warmly welcomed the group of guests from Turkmenistan, who were introduced to the complex and its conditions. During conversations, it was emphasized that relations based on mutual respect and strategic partnership will continue to develop consistently in the future.
