WNAM REPORT: Japan is exploring business opportunities and strengthening sustainable investment collaboration in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), which will be built in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

“Business actors are exploring business opportunities for investment in the IKN,” said Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono, Saturday, when asked about the visit of dozens of Japanese business actors to Sepaku, North Penajam Paser.

“It is hoped that this visit will lead to concrete investment in the future development of the new capital,” he added.

The IKN Authority is committed to continuing to open up collaboration with national and international partners, including Japan, in developing the IKN, as the future capital of Indonesia.

Basuki Hadimuljono said the IKN was built as a new, modern, competitive, and sustainable government center. The interest of Japanese investors is expected to strengthen the IKN’s position as a strategic investment destination in the future.

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and 34 Japanese companies across sectors visited the IKN, consisting of representatives of government institutions and business actors from various sectors, ranging from trade, banking, machinery, electricity, materials, food, to services.

The IKN Authority provides a direct overview of the infrastructure readiness and direction of IKN development to prospective investors.

“The visit aims to explore business opportunities and strengthen collaboration on sustainable investment in the new capital city,” explained JETRO Jakarta President Director Shinji .

Japanese investors’ interest in supporting the development and advancement of the IKN is also quite significant, so it is expected that in-depth exploration of business opportunities for investment in the IKN will be carried out, he said.
