Cooperation with China’s leading universities expands

WNAM REPORT: First Deputy Executive Director of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, Davron Abdurashidov, held talks with representatives of leading higher education institutions during his official trip to China and discussed issues related to developing academic cooperation, training highly qualified personnel, and expanding educational opportunities for students, government officials, and specialists from Uzbekistan.

During negotiations with the leadership of Peking University, an agreement was reached to launch joint educational programs in cooperation with universities in Uzbekistan.

According to the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, the parties agreed to expand the participation of students from Uzbekistan in educational programs, especially in STEM education – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

As part of the cooperation, it is planned to organize student and professor exchanges, launch Visiting Scholar programs for researchers, organize summer camps for school graduates, and offer targeted internships for government employees.

At the meeting with the leadership of Tsinghua University, attention was paid to training specialists in STEM fields and in key sectors of the economy. The parties agreed to increase the number of Uzbekistan students studying at this university. More than 40 students from Uzbekistan study here. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Foundation funds their studies. Agreements have also been reached to work under a Co-sharing mechanism.
