WNAM REPORT:  Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting in Jakarta on Thursday evening to discuss national strategic programs, ranging from downstreaming to waste-to-energy (WtE) plant development.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed in Jakarta on Friday that the meeting was held after the president received briefings from several officials at the Merdeka Palace earlier in the day.

Wijaya said the meeting, held at the office of sovereign wealth fund Danantara, was attended by several ministers and officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, who also serves as Danantara’s CEO.

“During the limited meeting, the president discussed accelerating national strategic programs, including those in education, food security, industrial downstreaming, and waste-to-energy initiatives,” he said.

He added that the meeting served as a strategic forum to integrate the outcomes of President Prabowo’s recent overseas visits into concrete and measurable domestic policies.

“This meeting is a strategic step in following up on Indonesia’s strengthened cooperation with partner countries, while also promoting cross-sector synergy to support future economic growth and equitable national development,” he said.

The president recently visited Russia for talks with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on April 13, before traveling to France to meet President Emmanuel Macron on April 14.

During the Moscow meeting, the two leaders agreed to expand long-term cooperation in the energy sector, including Russia’s investment in oil refinery and storage development, as well as Indonesia’s planned purchase of Russian crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Meanwhile, the Prabowo–Macron meeting focused on strengthening strategic cooperation across multiple sectors, including defense, energy, infrastructure, education, and the creative economy.
