His name was Karim Sher Khan born in Kunar, Afghanistan. He spent his childhood in Peshawar city after which he migrated to Bombay where he earned notoriety as a hired assassin, bootlegger and also ran a gambling den. Bombay’s police was on his way roll as pay roll. Such was his awe that as long as he lived no other don in Bombay could look into his eyes. Famously known as Karim Lala or Karim Pathan he was uncrowned king of Bombay’s underworld till 2003 when he joined the great majority. All the leading film personalities of Bollywood had close contacts with him and so bad Bombay’s politicians.
