ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): President of the Islamabad Tyres Association (ITA), Riaz Khan, has said that Pakistan’s local tyre industry has the potential to play a significant role in the country’s economy, employment generation, and industrial development. However, he stressed that a comprehensive strategy is urgently needed to address the challenges facing the sector and unlock its growth potential.
He said the government should introduce business-friendly policies that encourage local tyre manufacturers by increasing investment, reducing production costs, and promoting the adoption of modern technologies. He also proposed a comprehensive review of import duties and taxes on raw materials to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistan’s tyre industry in international markets.
Riaz Khan further stated that Pakistan’s tyre industry can be brought in line with international standards through greater investment in research and development (R&D), the training of skilled human resources, and the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies. He added that special incentives for exporters, easy access to financing, and an uninterrupted supply of energy are also essential to boost exports and ensure the sustainable growth of the local tyre industry.
