WNAM REPORT: President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Vladivostok in Russia’s Far East on Wednesday to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) as the event’s main guest of honor.
According to an official statement received here, the president arrived at Vladivostok International Airport at 10:45 a.m. local time, where he was welcomed by Primorsky Vice Governor Said Yusupov and Vladivostok Minister for Foreign Relations Konstantin Sidorenko.
Prabowo was also welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Antonio Tavares, Defense Attaché Air Commodore Budi Susilo, and Indonesian Honorary Consul in Vladivostok Anton Zubkho.
Prabowo’s visit to Vladivostok for the EEF, which is being held from September 1–4, 2026, reflects Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Russia across various sectors.
He previously attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in June 2025. His participation in the EEF marks his continued attendance at international economic forums hosted by Russia.
The president’s presence in the Russian Far East also provides an opportunity to explore various new areas of cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors. Prabowo departed for Russia from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield at 11:20 p.m. local time on Tuesday (September 1).
His entourage includes Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Higher Education, Science, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who also joined the president’s visit to Vladivostok, earlier said that Prabowo was invited by Russian President Vladimir Putin to serve as the EEF’s main guest of honor.
“President Putin specifically invited President Prabowo as the EEF’s main guest of honor, reflecting close Indonesia-Russia ties strengthened through direct diplomacy,” Wijaya said.
Meanwhile, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov said Tuesday that Putin and Prabowo were expected to hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the forum.
“It is already a regular meeting between our leaders; it will be the leaders’ fifth meeting in two years,” Tolchenov said, highlighting the close relationship between Putin and Prabowo.
