WNAM REPORT: The organizing committee for the Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum, set for September 29-30 in Khiva, met at the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva, it was highlighted that the state visit by the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus on July 9 elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership and fostered deeper political, economic, and humanitarian collaboration.
The participants talked about preparing for the Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum, aiming to organize it professionally, establish new cooperation agreements, and effectively communicate the forum’s results to the public.
The forum’s primary goal is to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries by promoting interparliamentary dialogue and diplomatic efforts. It aims to improve legislative tools that support trade, economic growth, investment, and innovation cooperation. It also aims to facilitate joint projects across sectors such as industrial cooperation, digital transformation, agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism, and human capital development.The forum will include meetings of the Interparliamentary Commission, youth parliaments, and gatherings of local representatives, as well as the fourth Uzbekistan – Belarus Women’s Business Forum. Past forums have resulted in hundreds of commercial contracts, investment deals, and memorandums of cooperation, strengthening business ties between entrepreneurs from both countries. During the first Belarus – Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum in Minsk in September 2023, 42 documents worth $28.7 million were signed. The second forum in Tashkent in August 2024 saw 43 commercial agreements valued at $89 million and 22 memorandums. The third forum in 2025 saw the signing of 49 documents, including 27 commercial contracts totaling $88.2 million.
At the fourth business forum, discussions are anticipated to center on four key areas: industrial cooperation, collaborative investment and optimal utilization of labor resources, food security along with advancements in biotechnology within the agro-industrial sector, partnership and execution of joint projects across the humanitarian, social, and tourism sectors. The agenda will also feature B2B and G2B meetings involving women entrepreneurs and government officials, as well as the signing of commercial contracts, agreements, and memorandums of cooperation.
Specific instructions were given to the responsible officials of ministries and agencies to ensure that the Uzbekistan – Belarus Interparliamentary Forum is held at a high level of organization.
