TWNAM MONITORING: he Embassy of Turkmenistan organized a literary evening at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy. The event involved the Turkmen delegation, scholars from the Smithsonian Institution, other scientific institutions, and the reading audience.
As reported by the official Turkmen media, an exhibition was organized as part of the literary evening, showcasing decorative and applied arts, visual arts of the Turkmen people, national costumes, jewelry, manuscripts of works by Magtymguly Pyragy, prominent representatives of Turkmen literature, including books by Magtymguly Pyragy stored in the Library of Congress.
At the literary evening, Turkmen and American scholars listened to presentations dedicated to the poetry of Magtymguly Pyragy.
During the event, Turkmen scholars presented to the Library of Congress the book “Anau – culture from the depths of millennia” by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan.
The library representatives accepted the book with great respect and noted that it would further enrich the collection of publications on Turkmen culture in the library’s holdings.
On the same day, Embassy of Turkmenistan in the USA hosted a ceremony to present the Turkmen leader’s books “Youth is the support of the Motherland” and “Anau – culture from the depths of millennia,” as well as the newly published collection of poems by the great Turkmen poet “Magtymguly.”
