Addressing the meeting, Vice President Irfan Chaudhry apprised the participants about the Chamber’s initiatives aimed at strengthening liaison with chambers of commerce around the world, particularly within the regional bloc. He emphasized the growing importance of enhancing economic and trade relations with ASEAN member states, stating that stronger connectivity with the region would open new avenues for trade, investment, and business cooperation for Pakistan.

Chairman of the Committee Chaudhry Mohammad Ali briefed the members on future initiatives and highlighted that the primary objective of the committee is to analyze Pakistan’s trade position with ASEAN countries, which collectively account for imports and exports worth nearly one trillion dollars. He said the committee would identify practical measures and policy recommendations to help Pakistan effectively tap into the immense trade potential of the ASEAN region.

During the meeting, members discussed various proposals to improve institutional engagement and business-to-business linkages with ASEAN countries. An important decision taken during the meeting was to ensure representation of Islamabad Chamber members in the Kuala Lumpur Chamber and the ASEAN Chamber in Malaysia to facilitate stronger coordination, networking, and trade cooperation.
