WNAM REPORT: On July 18-19, 2024, a working visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, was held in Bucharest. During the visit, political consultations were held between the foreign ministries of the two countries and a number of meetings with Romanian officials. This is stated in the message of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
At consultations with the State Secretary of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, Ana Tinca, key areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The parties noted the importance of maintaining regular contacts at a high level and agreed to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Bucharest.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Luminita Odobescu, the high dynamics of the Turkmen-Romanian partnership were emphasized. The diplomats exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.
Particular attention was paid to issues of transport cooperation. At negotiations with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, Adrian Gheorghe Fogis, preparations for the signing of a quadripartite (Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Romania) intergovernmental Agreement on the creation of an international transport route “Caspian Sea – Black Sea” were discussed.
Meetings were also held on issues of cooperation in the field of education and inter-parliamentary interaction. The Romanian side expressed gratitude for the installation of a monument to the Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu in Ashgabat.
The visit of the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to Romania confirmed the mutual desire to further strengthen and expand the bilateral partnership in various fields.
