WNAM MONITORING: The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, attended the official opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games during his working visit to Astana.
After concluding his meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, the National Leader’s motorcade proceeded to the “Astana Arena” stadium, where the official ceremony took place under the theme “Meeting in the Great Steppe.”
A unique feature of the World Nomad Games is the integration of sports, cultural, and scientific programs, designed to promote and globally showcase traditional ethnic sports and nomadic culture.
The official logo of this major sporting event features a key element of identity—a solar rider, which has been an integral part of all World Nomad Games logos. Dark red elements symbolize the simplicity and elegance of carnelian, a semi-precious stone associated with life energy, the heart, and the sun. Carnelian is widely used in traditional jewelry and household items by Turkmen and other Central Asian peoples. The text is styled in a font inspired by Turkic runic script from the 8th–10th centuries.
Water, the main symbol of the first three Nomad Games hosted by Kyrgyzstan, continues to be a central element at the current Games in Kazakhstan.
