WNAM MONITORING: President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, met with the European Union’s (EU) Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, in Ashgabat on Thursday. Urpilainen visited the country to participate in a high-level meeting launching the Trans-Caspian Coordination Platform for transport connectivity. During the meeting, the EU Commissioner emphasized Turkmenistan’s role as a reliable transport bridge between Asia and Europe.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian areas, noting the successful development of the “Central Asia – EU” partnership format.
The two sides discussed expanding transport corridors such as North–South and East–West, which Turkmenistan is developing alongside regional partners and international organizations. The President expressed confidence that these routes would further strengthen economic ties across the Eurasian continent.
The meeting concluded with both parties exchanging best wishes and expressing optimism for continued successful collaboration.
