WNAM MONITORING: In fulfilling its responsibility as the leading business in the gas industry, Petro Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) is sparing no effort to perform its critical task in the North – ensuring a stable supply of gas products for industrial and domestic use, thus contributing to mitigating the aftermath of typhoon Yagi. Concurrently, PV GAS is striving to complete the national clean energy supply map by successfully transporting LNG from the South to the North by rail.

During the days following typhoon Yagi, with efforts to remediate the disaster and revive industrial production and civil consumption, PV GAS maintained a stable supply of gas products in the North.

Since September 9, 2024, PV GAS has continued to safely operate the Ham Rong-Thai Binh gas system to supply low-pressure gas and CNG to meet to the utmost the customers’ demand based on its mines’ exploitation output, and supply LPG from floating storage units and depots in Thai Binh and Hai Phong with a throughput volume of between 2,000 and 3,000 tons per day. For the days to come, as production activities and domestic demand recover, PV GAS commits to ensuring uninterrupted gas supply stable prices from domestic and imported gas sources.

As part of the efforts to ensure the comprehensive energy supply for the North, at 6:00 PM on September 9, 2024, the train carrying 16 ISO tanks of LNG completed its 1,700 km railway journey from the South to the North, arriving safely and on time at Dong Anh Station (Hanoi). From this station, the LNG was transported by special-use tank trucks to industrial consumers in the North.

The initial success of the LNG transportation from the South to the North marks a new chapter for both the gas industry and the railway transport sector in Vietnam. This operation has helped complete the national energy map in general and upgrade PV GAS’s LNG supply chain in particular. This also constitutes an important foundation for PV GAS to continue developing the gas product value chain and comprehensive energy solution package, thereby meeting the market’s diverse demands.

For the first time in Vietnam, in July 2023 LNG was imported by special maritime vessels to PV GAS’s depots in Vung Tau city and immediately supplied to the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) and industrial consumers in the Southeastern region. However, the northern region still lacks infrastructure facilities for LNG import, making it significantly difficult for consumers to access this fuel source.

Fully aware of its responsibility to lead the gas industry in Vietnam, and with active support from the Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR), PV GAS has successfully carried the first LNG shipment to the North. This shows its commitment to ensuring a stable and competitive supply of diverse gas products (pipeline gas, LPG, CNG, and LNG) at competitive prices, thereby helping customers during their production and business recovery and ensuring security and safety in the use of PV GAS’s energy solutions.

By maintaining a stable and uninterrupted energy supply during the post-disaster recovery phase, and with the LNG transportation in ISO tanks by rail, thereby contributing to optimizing the national transportation and gas industry infrastructure system, PV GAS and its parent company – the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN), further affirms its leading role in the competitive energy market in general and the gas industry in particular, aiming for the comprehensive development of clean and sustainable energy sources.-
