WNAM REPORT: Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, as reported on Thursday.
“A stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relationship is in the common interest of both countries and is in line with the expectations of the international community,” Xi stated in his message.
According to Xinhua, “Xi urged the two countries to find the right way to get along in the new era, so as to benefit both countries and the wider world.”
Xinhua also reported that the Chinese President Xi “expressed the hope that the two sides will uphold the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.”
US-based CNN reported earlier in the day that Chinese President Xi and US President-elect Trump held a telephone conversation. However, according to CNN, when asked about the reported telephone conversation between Xi and Trump the Chinese Embassy in Washington responded that it had no commentaries to make regarding this information.
The presidential election in the United States wrapped up on the morning of November 6 (Moscow time). The official outcome has not been announced yet, but, according to Fox News, Trump secured 277 electoral votes, with 270 required for the victory.
Trump has already declared himself the 47th President of the United States. House Speaker Mike Johnson called him a president-elect. Trump has already started receiving congratulations from foreign leaders. In addition to the President and Vice President, US voters also elected one third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives and governors of 11 states and two territories.
