Tashkent: A delegation from Uzbekistan led by the khokim of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kasymov visited the Afghanistan’s Mazar-i-Sharif to hold negotiations with the Taliban.
One of the key issues discussed at the meeting was reducing the negative impact of sandstorms in the Amudarya region. To achieve this goal, it is proposed to create protective forests in the territories adjacent to the Amudarya.
In addition, issues of cooperation in the areas of trade, education and railway transport were raised at the negotiations.
The parties also expressed interest in establishing cooperative relations in the sector of geology and processing of raw materials for the production of natural decorative stones.
This meeting was held within the framework of the fourth meeting of the Joint Uzbek-Afghan Commission on Cross-Border Trade and Economic Cooperation.
