WNAM REPORT: Indonesia will receive assistance from the governments of Qatar and Abu Dhabi, a state in the United Arab Emirates, to develop seven million housing units for the people, as confirmed by the Housing Task Force.
“According to President Prabowo Subianto, the Qatari government is ready to fund the development of five million homes. Meanwhile, a Qatari philanthropist has also expressed readiness to fund one million homes personally,” Housing Task Force chief Hashim Djojohadikusumo stated here on Thursday.
“During my visit to Abu Dhabi (in UAE), the Abu Dhabi government declared its readiness to help (for the development of) one million housing units,” he remarked.
With the support of Middle Eastern countries to Indonesia, Djojohadikusumo is confident that the government’s development target of 15 million housing units within the five years of President Prabowo’s term will be achieved.
The task force head also commended the central government and local authorities’ efforts to provide proper housing for the people.
Djojohadikusumo made the remarks during a Christmas charity event with Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait at the Rawa Buaya public residential complex in West Jakarta.
During the agenda, Djojohadikusumo and Sirait conversed with Rawa Buaya residents regarding the progress made in relocating homeless residents and those living in slum areas to the residential complex.
Apart from the Rawa Buaya residential complex, homeless people in Jakarta were also provided new dwellings at Tegal Alur, Flamboyan, and Daan Mogot residential complexes, all in West Jakarta.
Amid the festive Christmas season, Sirait encouraged Rawa Buaya residents to live in harmony with one another despite their diverse backgrounds.
“You all have different backgrounds, but you are all Indonesians. I wish to convey this message from our president that you all must live in harmony,” the housing minister remarked.
