WNAM REPORT: A new achievement in the Guinness Book of Records was set by 23-year-old Changji University student Alapati Yimayer, who performed an incredible 388 jumps over a rope in 60 seconds. On average, the athlete made more than six jumps every second.
The young record holder’s success story began in his school years, when he joined a rope jumping section. What started as a simple hobby grew into a serious sport. The turning point was entering the university, where under the guidance of an experienced mentor, Chen Bingjie Alapati not only improved his technique, but also developed important psychological qualities of an athlete.
Before setting the world record, the athlete had already achieved significant success, becoming the champion of the Chinese Open Jump Rope Championships in October 2024 in the three-minute jump category. However, preparing for the one-minute record required a completely different approach to training.
“Three-minute jumps are endurance, and one-minute jumps are explosive power. At first, the intensity was unbearable. My legs hurt so much that I couldn’t sleep, but every little improvement brought me closer to my goal,” the record holder says.
After setting the record, Alapati was so exhausted that he couldn’t even celebrate the achievement: “My legs were shaking and my mind was turned off,” the athlete admits.
Now the record-holder plans to pass on his experience to others as a coach. To anyone who dreams of records, he advises: “Go for it. You’ll never know your limits until you try.”
