Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING): President Prabowo Subianto left for India on Thursday afternoon where he will be a guest of honor at the Republic Day ceremony.
During his visit, he will seek to strengthen the strategic comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and India, which was established in 2018.
While delivering a press statement at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, the president said that his visit is aimed at finalizing several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation between the two countries.
“Today, I will leave for a working visit to New Delhi, India, at the invitation of the Indian government,” he added.
President Prabowo informed that the MoUs between the two countries will cover various areas, including health, cultural exchange programs, security issues, maritime safety, and technology and digital development.
Prabowo left on the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft around 5:15 p.m. local time on Thursday and is expected to land at Palam Air Base in New Delhi.
He and a limited entourage are scheduled to be in India from January 24 to 26, 2025.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied the President on the flight. Several other officials have already landed in India.
Meanwhile, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka; State Secretariat Minister Hadi Prasetyo; Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar; Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin; chief of the National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo; and commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI), General Agus Subianto, came to see the President off at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that President Prabowo has embarked on the state visit to India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The visit coincides with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India and aims to strengthen their strategic comprehensive partnership.
