WNAM MONITORING: Samarkand International Airport has strengthened its position by taking 2nd place in the prestigious ACI Europe ranking among airports designed to carry 1 to 10 million passengers annually.
According to the Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe), Samarkand Airport showed a significant passenger traffic increase of 186% compared to 2019.
This result demonstrates not only the dynamic development of the aviation industry in the country, but also the growing interest of tourists in Samarkand.
In 2024, the airport also handled more than 1.38 million passengers, which is the highest result in the entire history of the airport. This is 37% more than the record figure of 2023.
Currently, Air Marakanda, which operates the modern terminal of Samarkand International Airport, cooperates with 17 companies. Flights are operated to 18 destinations, of which 16 are international and 2 are domestic.
