PESHAWAR( WNAM REPORT): Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, at the Governor House in Peshawar. The meeting focused on various social safety measures for the welfare of deserving families under BISP, the expansion of the program’s scope, the establishment of model offices, land acquisition, and other key issues.
During the meeting, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid briefed Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the ongoing initiatives under BISP. She emphasized that BISP plays an important role in ensuring the economic empowerment of underprivileged communities, particularly women. She highlighted that through the Benazir Kafalat program, deserving women receive quarterly stipends. Additionally, children’s education is supported through Benazir Taleemi Wazaif, while maternal and child health and nutrition are addressed under the Benazir Nashonuma Program.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated BISP’s role in poverty alleviation and social welfare. He acknowledged that BISP holds a significant place in the country’s social protection framework, in line with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing the program’s transparency and outreach so that more deserving individuals can benefit.
The Governor also stressed the importance of establishing model BISP offices nationwide to improve service delivery. The meeting included discussions on acquiring land for a BISP office in Peshawar. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured his full cooperation and support to Chairperson BISP, Senator Rubina Khalid, in achieving these objectives.
