WNAM REPORT: The 24th Winter Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was held in Vienna, Austria. Member of the Senate Gulnara Marufova also participated in the meeting as part of the delegation of the Oliy Majlis.
The event brought together more than 240 parliamentarians from 51 countries. The meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly focused on strengthening interparliamentary cooperation, as well as ecology, energy, and sustainable development.
The Uzbekistan delegation members presented the strategic prospects for actively developing a green economy in the country and integrating renewable energy sources. Concrete steps and initiatives were also noted to strengthen environmental safety and improve energy efficiency.
In the speeches of the members of the delegation of the Oliy Majlis on the second day of the meeting, it was noted that the parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan became a significant step in the country’s political development. It was also emphasized that the international organizations’ participation, including the delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, in this political event as international observers demonstrated the importance and transparency of the elections.
During the winter session, delegates from Uzbekistan, along with representatives of the countries of the region and the OSCE Special Representative for Central Asia, participated in a roundtable discussion and held several bilateral meetings.
