WNAM REPORT: The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) will host the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) on May 12–15, 2025.
On Friday, the Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the DPR Mardani Ali Sera confirmed this at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta.
The BKSAP chair conveyed the statement after the Unite in Support of Palestine media gathering, which was aimed at strengthening synergy about the narrative on Palestine.
He said the theme Indonesia will raise as the host of this year’s PUIC session is “Good Governance and Strong Institution.”
Sera explained that the focus of the OIC member countries is building institutional strength and good governance in each country.
“If good governance works, the institution is strong, then we will become countries that do not need to depend on others,” he remarked.
He said that during the 19th Session of the PUIC, a discussion session will be held to deliberate on the issue of Palestine to formulate real measures for OIC countries to support Palestine.
“It will thoroughly discuss the current conditions (in Palestine), future steps, and possible actions. We do not only condemn but also build an alliance among PUIC,” he remarked.
Established in 1969, the OIC, the second-largest intergovernmental organization, comprises 57 member states spread over four continents.
