Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING ): The first “Central Asia – European Union” summit took place in Samarkand, chaired by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The summit was attended by the heads of all Central Asian states, President of the European Council António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the leaders of the EBRD and the European Investment Bank.
The meeting focused on prospects for strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic and investment cooperation, and fostering collaboration in areas such as green energy, transportation, innovation, culture, education, and security.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the sustainable transformations occurring in the region and expressed gratitude to the EU for its support of integration processes. He proposed initiatives to launch new cooperation platforms, establish a joint industrial park for European companies, develop the Trans-Caspian corridor, and create a Partnership Committee at the vice-prime minister level.
The Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership and the Declaration on Cooperation in Critical Mineral Resources were signed.
