WNAM REPORT: Asif Javed has been elected Chairman of the Pakistan Alternative Energy Association (PAEA). Tahir Alvi will serve as Senior Vice Chairman, Khurram Shah Zain as Vice Chairman, and Mir Ahmed Shah as Secretary General. The sixteen-member cabinet of the association was elected yesterday for a term of two years.

Chairman Asif Javed stated that the ambiguities in policies related to net metering must be removed. He said that reducing the per unit price for solar consumers would discourage the use of solar energy. The government should actively promote alternative energy sources. He added that uncertainty caused by rumours is adversely affecting the solar business. “Our priority is to resolve the issues facing the solar industry. When unverified information spreads, it harms the market. We urge consumers to contact us for confirmation on any matter to avoid unnecessary concerns,” he emphasized.
