WNAM Monitoring: Kazakhstan will exempt foreign tourists from a tourist fee starting this month.
The ministry decreed on Dec. 27 to lift the tourist fee for foreign tourists who were previously charged for every day of they stay in Kazakhstan. The changes regarding the fee will become effective Jan. 9.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Kazakhstan is currently ranked 66th out of 117 countries in the Global Tourism Ranking according to the World Economic Forum.
The number of domestic travelers who visited Kazakhstan in nine months of 2023 amounted to 5.4 million people, that is 552,000 more compared to last year. The number of foreign tourists who traveled to Kazakhstan increased by 225,000, climbing to 835,000.
