WNAM REPORT: Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm wishes to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and appreciated the UAE’s consistent support to Pakistan, calling it a reflection of deep-rooted brotherly relations.
Discussing recent regional developments following the Pahalgam incident, the Prime Minister strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms.
He highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, noting that the country had suffered over 90,000 casualties and economic losses exceeding USD 152 billion.
He criticized India’s recent actions and rejected New Delhi’s accusations linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam attack.
Shehbaz Sharif said these baseless allegations were intended to divert attention from Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts and emphasized that Pakistan had offered a neutral international investigation into the incident.
The Prime Minister urged brotherly nations, including the UAE, to play their role in urging India to reduce tensions and avoid escalation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also noted that his government was focused on economic recovery, made possible through support from friendly countries like the UAE.
Ambassador Al-Zaabi expressed gratitude for the briefing and assured that the UAE would continue to work closely with Pakistan to promote peace and security in the region.
