WNAM MONITORING: In a picturesque part of Tashkent region, near the Ugam-Chatkal Nature Reserve, construction of the unique MSA Resort, which promises to become a new attraction for tourists, nature lovers, and enthusiasts of national culture and gastronomy, is nearing completion.

Thanks to the government’s and the personal attention of the President of the country to developing tourism and sustainable infrastructure, projects of this scale receive the support and encouragement needed to come to life.

MSA Resort is set to become a new destination for nature lovers, admirers of national culture, and food enthusiasts, combining modern comfort with the region’s rich heritage. Before the grand opening, media representatives visited the site to see how this ambitious project is taking shape.

The resort offers guests a chance to experience authentic Uzbek hospitality: cozy hotel rooms, a restaurant with national cuisine, a tasting hall, and – one of the most interesting features – traditional yurts that blend modern comfort with centuries-old Central Asian traditions. Along with the ethno-camp, the complex will have multifunctional spaces for public events, able to host over 1,000 people at once, including open-air areas surrounded by beautiful nature. MSA Resort expects to welcome around 20,000 tourists a year, giving them the chance to enjoy nature’s beauty and explore the local traditions of viticulture and winemaking.

MSA Resort owner Otabek Mirakhmedov emphasized the importance of having a clear regulatory and legal framework when implementing significant investment and tourism projects:

“Very favorable conditions have been created for entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan today. Thanks to the efforts of the country’s leadership and the personal attention of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, significant work has been done in the interests of the people, producers, and farmers: essential laws have been adopted, and an effective legal framework has been established. Of course, not everything proceeds perfectly and rapidly, but this is a living process, and we are witnessing real positive changes. I would especially like to note the support from local authorities, particularly the district hokim, which is undoubtedly a key positive factor. This reflects a systemic approach and the state’s commitment to fostering a favorable environment for business and sustainable development”.

One of the key parts of the resort is the MSA Family Winery, which has already gained international recognition. Since 2022, it has represented Uzbek winemaking at the famous Cité du Vin museum in Bordeaux, France. In 2023, MSA Family Winery won a gold medal at the prestigious Berliner Wine Trophy in Germany and two silver medals at Mundus Vini. In 2024, MSA wines received two gold medals at the Concours International de Lyon in France, earning the title of Best Wine from Uzbekistan. Another achievement was the victory of Ekaterina Mokrova, a winery representative, at Uzbekistan’s first sommelier competition, highlighting the team’s high skill level.

“Our primary focus is the preservation and promotion of national identity, reflecting the cultural richness of Uzbekistan. We want every guest to experience a high level of service and truly see the soul of our country – in the architecture, design, applied arts, and gastronomy. Special attention is given to viticulture – an ancient craft for which our region has long been renowned. We strive to revive these traditions and elevate them to a new standard of quality, which has already been recognized at international competitions. Our goal is to host tourists and offer them a holistic experience: to see, feel, taste, and understand Uzbekistan. We believe that such projects strengthen the economy, shape a positive image of the country on the global stage, and, most importantly, inspire the younger generation to believe in their strength and potential in their homeland”, stated Sanjar Mirakhmedov, Director of the complex.

The resort will attract tourists and create about 350 jobs, substantially contributing to the local economy. MSA Resort focuses on several key areas: agriculture, gastro-, ethno-, and agro-tourism, as well as the production of high-value agricultural products. The project focuses on producing high-quality agricultural products with high added value, including grapes, wine, and processed goods of local origin. This picturesque location aspires to become a flagship site of Uzbekistan’s tourism industry and an essential component of the region’s sustainable development. It contributes to job creation, promotes cultural heritage, and strengthens the country’s international image as an attractive tourist destination.
