WNAM MONIORING : The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted an international scientific and practical conference titled “The influence of the legacy of Alisher Navoi and Abdurahman Jami on strengthening friendship among Central Asian peoples”. The event was held to celebrate the 584th anniversary of the great thinker, poet, and statesman Alisher Navoi.
The conference was organized by the International Institute for Central Asia, the Alisher Navoi International Public Foundation, and the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The conference brought together representatives of government and public organizations, the diplomatic corps, academic and research institutions, writers’ unions, international institutes and foundations, national cultural centers, as well as guests from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan, and scholars and faculty from leading universities in the region. Foreign experts also took part in the event online.
The conference included two thematic sessions and a cultural program. Several memoranda of cooperation were signed as part of the event, including between the International Institute for Central Asia, the Alisher Navoi International Public Foundation, the newspaper “Jadid”, and the Writers’ Union.
The first session, titled “The universal dimension of the literary legacy of Alisher Navoi and Abdurahman Jami”, focused on the poets’ contributions to the development of national literature and the cultures of Central Asian countries, the humanistic aspects of their heritage, and the influence of their ideas on contemporary philosophical and ethical discourse in the region.
The second session, “The legacy of the great poets in shaping the spirituality and identity of the peoples of Central Asia”, addressed the social, political, and philosophical views of Navoi and Jami and their role in promoting the values of peace, interethnic understanding, mutual respect, and good-neighborliness among the peoples of Central Asia.
Speakers emphasized that the intellectual and artistic legacy of Navoi and Jami remains an integral part of the region’s shared cultural foundation and continues to serve as a vital reference point for advancing humanitarian dialogue and strengthening spiritual unity.
