WNAM MONITORING: The European Commission has confirmed Turkmenistan’s potential in the EU’s efforts to diversify natural gas supplies through the Southern Gas Corridor.
Energy cooperation with Turkmenistan is based on a 2008 memorandum that covers energy security, infrastructure development, renewable energy sources, and energy efficiency, as reported by Trend on Wednesday. A bilateral working group has been established to maintain regular dialogue, including on natural gas issues.
According to the report, decisions on infrastructure projects are made by national authorities and companies.
Earlier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation, Esen Aydogdyyev noted that Turkmenistan views its neutral status as a key tool for implementing a policy of diversifying energy export routes.
