For obvious reasons the defence pact between Riyadh and Islamabad will grate on enemies of Pakistan. The question is if European nations can group together for their economic development and security why can’t we enter into similar group. If Iran is also made a part of it the longstanding rivalry between Tehran and Riyadh can melt and the element bent upon splitting Muslim countries by fanning sectarianism will die its natural death. But for that to happen one needs a charismatic personality like Z A Bhutto who was instrumental in making almost all heads of Muslim countries sit together on one platform in Lahore in 1974. Insiders know he was busy making Afghanistan Iran and Pakistan into a confederation before he joined the great majority.
