WNAM MONITORING: Vietnam aims to welcome at least 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic travelers this year. To achieve this target, the tourism industry is stepping up its action plan with decisive measures.

Over the first eight months of this year, Vietnam attracted nearly 14 million international arrivals, averaging 1.75 million per month. To meet the government’s target, the country needs to welcome an additional 11 million international visitors in the remaining four months of 2025, or an average of 2.75 million per month.

Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said: “We need to boost digital communications and marketing, focusing on key and emerging markets. Priority should be given to direct engagement with travel companies in target markets. By introducing new products and attractive services to these businesses, we can encourage them to organize tours to Vietnam in 2025 and the years ahead.”

Nguyen Thi Khanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said there must be a clear strategy to develop culinary tourism products in line with global trends.

She said: “Localities need to collaborate to promote their unique culinary and cultural values to tour operators. For example, when we organize culinary events in one location, tour companies should bring visitors there for direct engagement.”

According to Pham Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the industry has a strong foundation to meet its ambitious growth targets.

Thuy said: “Our action plan is based on the principle of ensuring clear responsibility for implementation, clear tasks, clear timelines, clear products, and clear authority. That means we need to work out implementation measures, identify lead agencies, select focus markets for promotion, develop products, certify green tourism labels, and honor culinary artisans.”

The tourism sector is energetically implementing its action program. New visa policies, improved infrastructure, and the enduring appeal of Vietnam’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and warm hospitality provide a strong foundation for the industry to make a breakthrough in the final stretch of 2025.
