Pakistan keen to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in energy, trade, and transport sectors

WNAM MONITORING: On October 3, 2025, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad with a delegation from Pakistan Regional Economic Forum (PREF), led by its Chairman Mr. Haroon Sharif.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov delivered a presentation on Neutral Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, its energy potential, and logistical capabilities, emphasizing the strategic importance of the regional energy and infrastructural projects for meeting Pakistan’s energy needs and strengthening regional connectivity. The significance of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Countries, held in August 2025 in Awaza, was also highlighted.

The Pakistani delegation expressed deep interest in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan in energy, trade, and transport, noting that Islamabad’s participation in such projects opens up prospects for long-term partnership and economic integration. It was also emphasized that the private sector should play a central role in developing bilateral cooperation.

The parties agreed to promote the active involvement of entrepreneurs and companies from both countries in the implementation of promising initiatives, including through participation in international exhibitions and industry forums, the establishment of joint ventures, and the development of investment and trade partnerships.
