Jakarta  ( WNAM MONITORING): President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from renowned billionaire and Bloomberg L.P. founder, Michael Bloomberg, and his entourage at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to an Instagram post by Cabinet Secretariat @sekretariat.kabinet, the meeting was a follow-up to President Prabowo’s dialogue with Michael Bloomberg during his recent visit to New York.

“One of the main topics discussed was improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources (HR) through cooperation in education, health, and sanitation,” the account stated.

On the occasion, Bloomberg shared his experiences regarding public health policy while serving as Mayor of New York.

Besides the HR issues, the meeting also discussed opportunities for collaboration between Bloomberg and Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Danantara, particularly on programs oriented towards improving the quality of life for the community.

Furthermore, the two parties also discussed potential collaboration in marine conservation.

This meeting reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to forging global collaboration to support national development programs, particularly those related to strengthening human resources, public health, and environmental sustainability.

Minister of Investment and Downstream and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, was seen accompanying the head of state during the meeting.

“We discussed the collaboration between Bloomberg and Danantara, along with the collaboration between their trust fund and Danantara in the education and health sectors,” Roeslani remarked.

He explained that the collaboration between Bloomberg’s trust fund and Danantara would be discussed in detail, including in the areas of education, sanitation, and health.

Bloomberg also held a follow-up meeting with Danantara officials after meeting Prabowo at the Palace the same day.

Bloomberg, who served as Mayor of New York from 2002 to 2014, also shared his experience enforcing a smoking ban for public health reasons.

“He gave the example during his tenure where he banned smoking in restaurants, citing health concerns and other reasons,” Roeslani said.
