Tashkent ( WNAM MONITORING): President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced strategic plans for the development of the IT sector and digital technologies in the country, stating that by 2030, IT services exports are expected to reach 5 billion US dollars.
Next year, four data centers, two supercomputers, and artificial intelligence laboratories in 15 universities will be launched in Tashkent, Bukhara, Fergana, and Tashkent region. These initiatives will enable the implementation of over 100 AI projects in healthcare, transportation, agriculture, geology, banking and finance, and public safety.
The “Digital Startups” program will be expanded, introducing new mechanisms to support projects from conception to export. Interest-free loans of up to 5 billion soums for a term of up to five years will be provided from the Youth Fund to establish private startup centers.
A fintech office and innovation hub will be established under the Central Bank with experts from Singapore. It is planned to launch 15–20 fintech startups annually to international markets and attract around 1 billion US dollars in investment for them.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also emphasized the need to develop venture funds, startups, and fintech solutions. The parliament has been tasked to work with the government on drafting a law “On Alternative Investment Funds.” To practically implement projects of young researchers in quantum technologies, drones, and robotics, a Digital Technology Center will be established.
