WNAM REPORT: The oil and gas sector is an important pillar of economic development and energy security for any country.
The development of this sector in Uzbekistan is one of the priorities of state policy, and as a result of geological exploration, drilling processes, and the active development of new wells, the country’s opportunities for identifying and effectively using hydrocarbon reserves are expanding.
In particular, international cooperation and the introduction of modern technologies are of decisive importance in the implementation of joint projects, attracting investments and increasing production efficiency.
The achievement of important agreements between Uzbekneftegaz JSC and the large Chinese corporation CNPC is also the result of these efforts. In accordance with the instructions of the Head of our state, starting this year, Uzbekneftegaz JSC is implementing a large-scale program of geological exploration and well drilling, which is of historical significance in terms of scale. This program is of decisive importance in expanding the resource base of society and strengthening energy security.
These issues were emphasized during a meeting between the delegation led by Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, and Dai Houlian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC Corporation, held as part of a business trip to the People’s Republic of China. The meeting also discussed issues of further deepening cooperation in the oil and gas sector, implementing new major joint projects, and reaching long-term agreements.
It announced plans by Uzbekneftegaz JSC to conduct 3D seismic surveys and drill wells at various depths this year on an area of at least 6,500 square kilometers. For the first time, such large-scale work is planned to be carried out in a complex manner, simultaneously in several new blocks.
During the negotiations, plans to sign a number of large contracts with companies belonging to the CNPC group were also discussed. The parties paid special attention to the purchase of technological equipment such as drilling rigs, components, and pipelines, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of hydrocarbon extraction.
As noted, cooperation with Kunlun Digital Technology, a company within CNPC, in the areas of implementing digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies in production processes, deep drilling and 3D seismic exploration, as well as with XIBU, BGP (Bi-Ji-Pi), and CNLC, is of practical importance.
According to the company’s press service, the agreements reached at the end of this meeting will bring the multifaceted cooperation between the companies to a new level. They will also serve to further strengthen the Uzbek-Chinese strategic partnership.
